About SCADO
Last updated: 10 June 2026
SCADO is a food expiry tracker built to do one thing well: help households waste less food. It is developed and published by 255bit (255bit.it).
Why we built it
Most food is wasted simply because we forget what we have and when it expires. SCADO turns that into a quick scan and a timely reminder: add a product by scanning its barcode or its printed date, see what needs using first, and get a notification before it goes off - so nothing is thrown away by accident.
Privacy first, by design
We took a deliberate stance: no account, no ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking. Your inventory lives on your device and works fully offline. The only data that ever leaves it is what is strictly needed to run your subscription (through the app stores and RevenueCat) and, if you choose to enable it, the scanned barcode used to look up a product name.
Honest by default
SCADO is a paid product: a 14-day free trial, then one Premium subscription - no hidden tiers and no "free forever" promises. And SCADO is an organizational aid, not food-safety advice: it tracks the dates you enter, while the decision about whether something is still good stays with you.
